Name: Impact4Mar: Social Ecological Impact Assessment for the Maritime Sector in the Atlantic Area
Program: Interreg Atlantic Area
Budget: EUR 1,433,161.00
Duration: 30 months - About the project
The project supports the sustainable growth and innovation of maritime SMEs in the Atlantic area through a clear pathway for their green transition. Its ambition is to make the Atlantic a leading region in sustainability impact, risk, and opportunities assessment for the blue economy.
Impact4Mar helps maritime SMEs assess and manage the environmental, social, and governance impacts of their activities. It provides practical guidance, tools, and methods to make these sustainability assessments easier and more useful for their daily operations. The project follows a three-step approach: (1) analyzing current ESG practices and gaps in maritime SMEs and mapping existing tools and frameworks; (2) developing and testing practical toolkits, guides, and facilitation schemes through seven pilots; (3) sharing results and promoting sustainability culture via a digital platform, bootcamps, and policy recommendations aligned with EU strategies.
The project’s innovative approach combines a holistic analysis of SMEs’ sustainability maturity, user-focused pilot development, and hands-on support for SME transition. Unlike other ESG initiatives, Impact4Mar does not create new tools but curates and simplifies existing solutions, making them practical, accessible, and tailored for maritime SMEs in the Atlantic Area.
- Our role in the project
LPRC will contribute to the project with its experience in stakeholder engagement, results dissemination, and event organization. In particular, by organizing four bootcamps across the European Atlantic regions.
LPRC will further support the pilot’s development in the Canary Islands through the mobilization of their maritime ecosystem and will provide input to the analysis of maritime sector methods, drawing on their experience with island regions in the Atlantic Area. An integral part of contribution will also be support for communication activities, including the website, social media, factsheets, and related materials.
