Name: CO-WATERS: Coalition of Waterfront Cities, Regions and Islands
Program: Horizon Europe
Budget: EUR 3 999 516.25
Duration: 48 months - About the project
CO-WATERS supports waterfront cities, regions, and islands in achieving the goals of the EU Mission Ocean and Waters. The project brings these actors together in a Coalition, providing networking, knowledge exchange, and tailored guidance to help them act strategically, engage local communities, and strengthen resilience against climate risks.
A central element of CO-WATERS is the MOW Label, a recognition scheme that supports cities, regions, and islands in implementing sustainable practices. The project also facilitates access to funding and investment, connecting public authorities with private sector actors, investors, and solution providers to enable the sustainable transition of local initiatives. By combining collaboration, capacity-building, and practical tools, CO-WATERS helps members adopt sustainable strategies, share best practices, and contribute to a resilient, carbon-neutral, and circular blue economy.
- Our role in the project
LPRC contributes to the Twinning activities in CO-WATERS by supporting online exchanges and knowledge sharing among partners. It participates in co-creating the CO-WATERS Stakeholder Engagement Workbook, providing tools and methods for engaging local stakeholders. LPRC supports workshops, trains members to use the Workbook, and helps improve it based on feedback. LPRC contributes to the development and delivery of capacity building in CO-WATERS by supporting the creation of a detailed Capacity Building Plan and designing the related training content. This ensures that Coalition members and interested cities, regions, and islands are equipped with the knowledge needed to engage local stakeholders and support project objectives. LPRC also assists in the development of the MOW Label, helping define its methodology, application process, and evaluation criteria, and supports webinars and training for applicants. In addition, LPRC contributes to communication and dissemination, producing content for the project website, social media, newsletters, and restricted resources for Coalition members to promote the Label and share best practices. Through these activities, LPRC helps ensure that the project’s tools, trainings, and resources are accessible, practical, and tailored to the needs of local actors.
